Sylvia J. Potter, 85, of Collinsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her residence.

She was born on September 21, 1936, in West Virginia to the late Paris Bishop and the late Virginia Radford Bishop.

In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, James D. Potter, Sr.; son, James Potter, Jr.; brothers, James, and Charles Bishop; sisters, Phyllis Bishop and Frances Dixon and great-grandchildren, Eric Goff, II and Robbie Goff.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Gloria Goff (Steven) and Brenda Bryant (David); son, Elmer Potter (Nancy); grandchildren, Michelle Stowe (Rodney), Steven Goff, Jr., Eric Goff (Amy), Paul Potter, Taylor Potter, D. J. Bryant (Becky), Cheyenne Bryant, Tammy Haynes, Tara Smith, Roy Haynes, Jr. (Mary) and Rebecca Barnhart; seventeen great-grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren and brothers, Raymond Bishop (Shelby) and Roger Bishop (Jenny).

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Bassett Funeral Service where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm with Pastor Marla Moore and Pastor Janet McGhee officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Roselawn Burial Park. Due to the governor's requirements for COVID 19, a face covering is recommended and social distancing should be observed when visiting the funeral home.
