of Carlisle died on January 12, 2021. He was born in Carlisle to the late Merl Q. Barrick, Sr. and Anja (Shughart) Barrick. He is survived by two children: Shawn and Kristy Ellis; three grandchildren; one brother, Vince (Jonny) Barrick of Newport; two sisters: Christine (William) Schwanger of Mt. Holly and Cindy (late Bob) Lindenmuth of Carlisle, and several nieces and nephews.

Merl attended Carlisle High School, earned his GED, and later went to work for Valk Manufacturing Company.

Merl enjoyed riding his bike, reading and music. He was a talented storyteller, artist and cook. His company and stories were the reason for hundreds of laughs shared by family and friends. His love and loyalty to his family will be forever cherished.

A Celebration of Merl's Life will be held at a later time – at the convenience of the family.
