Artist, Jewelry Designer. Born Jeanne Françoise Marie van den Bosch, she was born in a noble family, but distanced herself from her nobility as she believed her family's history to be problematic. In 1963, she began following a Goldsmith's education in Arnhem, where she graduated in 1969. She mainly focused on designing jewelry, often in an abstract geometric style. Her work gained a lot of attention, even before her graduation. Shortly after graduating, she had several expositions all over the Netherlands and the United States. She wanted her jewelry to be available for a wide audience, but as mass production was not possible, the jewelry remained expensive. In 1974, Van den Bosch cofounded the Bond van Oproerige Edelsmeden (BOE, League of Rebellious Goldsmiths), which wanted to see jewelry be recognized as pieces of art. In the mid-1970s, she began to make larger pieces of art as well as continue designing jewelry. Additionally, she worked as a teacher at an art academy in Amersfoort. One of her last works was designing a 'farewell medal' for the post and telecommunications company PTT. Her early death ended her promising career, but her name lives on in the Françoise van den Bosch Foundation, which stimulates jewelry designers and awards a prize bi-annually.
