Son of George Jacob Emerick born 1773, he is first found in the 1810 census for Montgomery County, VA. By 1825 he was living in Schuyler Co, IL which later became Cooperstown, Brown Co, IL. HIs father died in 1844 and soon after moved to Iowa and was listed in 1854 census for Oregon Territory. Listed in 1860 Oregon census as A. Emrick in Sublimity, Marion Co, OR with wife and family. His oldest son Henry Emrick listed in next household. This was one year after the entire family arrived from Iowa. The next year or two they all moved to Philomoth, Benton County, OR where they later had a post office listed as Emerick, Oregon but was later changed to Blodgett, Oregon.
