A life-long resident of Laurens, SC, Buck was a graduate of Laurens District 55 High School, Class of 1955. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1955–1959, with duty primarily in the Far East. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and treasurer. Mr. Waldrop was a Mason and Shriner and member of Palmetto Lodge # 19, the VFW and Hejaz Temple. As a young man he worked in the textile industry and as a police officer. He later worked as a postal carrier and clerk, serving for over 20 years in the Postal Service. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family, his church and his community and he will be sorely missed by us all.
He is survived by his children, Joni Burton, Jackie Waldrop, Buck Waldrop, Jr., and Matthew Waldrop; brother, Dewitt Waldrop; sisters, Helen Barbrey and Kathleen Brownlee; first wife, Diana Sims; and a large and loving extended family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Juanita "Chi-Chi" Waldrop; son, Michael Waldrop; and grandson, Cary Ray Waldrop.
