She was thrown from a sled and suffered a skull fracture. Her death certificate gives a birthdate of 17 Aug 1890 (not the 1881 on headstone). Her husband did not know who her parents were. His obituary referred to her maiden name as "Daisy", but daughter Vera's marriage record indicates the maiden name was Bertha Snelson, as does daughter Donnabelle's birth record.

Adopted by Charles Colfax Daisy and Ida Belle Icenhour (why is that?)

*Note that Bertha and her sister, Bessie, are born only a month apart, according to their respective birthdates. (!)
