Verilda E. Vandervile,89,of 520 Main St.,Manistique,died March 27,2009,at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

She was born Aug. 29,1919,in Cooks,the daughter of Dominick and Merilda (Demars) Popour and attended school in Cooks.

On Nov. 5,1938,she married Russell J. Vanderville in Garden. He preceded her in death May 2,1972.

Verilda formerly did furniture upholstering and was also employed with the U.S.Forest Service.She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church of Manistique and the Schoolcraft County V.F.W. Auxillary Post 4420. She enjoyed camping and fishing.

She is survived by her sons,Stephen (Martha) Vanderville of North Aurora,Ill.,and Victor (Sharon) Vanderville and Roger (Jean) Vanderville of Manistique;daughter Glenda (Joe) Francis of Manistique;20 grandchildren;numerous great grandchildren;brothers,Raymond "Babe" Popour of Manistique and Vern "Bunny" Popour of Gwinn,Mich.;sister Rita "Alta" Peterson of Manistique;and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughters,Lorna Labadie and Sandra Price;brothers,Richard "Manny" Popour,Floyd Popour and Wilfred "Pete" Popour;sisters Lorna Rochefort,Verma Rochefort and Lila DesJarden.

Visitation will be from 1 until 4 p.m. on Wednesday,April 1,at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Father Glenn Thoret officiating.Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
