Flora P. Leatherwood, 89, of the 3800 block of Greenway Court, passed away Dec. 22, 2007, in her home. A native of Chase City, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lillie Belle and Onie J. Pennell Sr. and the widow of James Fred Leatherwood. She retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. as a seamstress. She was longstanding member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Goodloe and husband Bradley; three sisters, Bernice Reese, Eunice Lowe and husband Cliff and Doris Crawford; and a brother, Onie Josephus Pennell Jr. and wife Louise. She is also survived by five grandchildren, David Goodloe and wife Frieda, Robin Buchko and husband Jeff, Wendy Coburn and husband Michael, Lisa Bagley and husband Christian and Joe LaFramboise; and five great-grandchildren, Judson and Bradley Buchko and Noah, Hope and Faith Bagley. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce LaFramboise; a sister, Jewel Wheeler; and a brother, Aaron Pennell. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Parker officiating. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
