Early Life: Don was born November 22, 1939, to Floyd and Hilda Losser Phillips. He grew up on a ranch in Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville, Utah. He graduated from Springville High School and was involved in Future Farmers of America and exhibited livestock at shows and fairs.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On September 18, 1963, he married Sheila Waite in the Manti Utah Temple. He graduated from Snow College, Central Utah Valley Vocational School and attended Utah State University where he met Sheila.
❦ For 31 years, he was a welding instructor at Utah Valley University. He farmed property in west Springville and was a board member of the Springville Livestock Association, Springville Water Users Association, and was on the Utah County Fair Livestock Committee.
❦ In 2000, a dream of his was realized when he and Sheila purchased the Steptoe Ranch in White Pine County, Nevada. While ranching, he had the opportunity to serve on the advisory boards for the Water Advisory Committee, White Pine Soil Conservation District, and White Pine FSA County Committee. He was elected to the Board of Directors for Mt. Wheeler Power, holding that position for 12 years.
❦ He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting. He could and would talk to anyone. Don Floyd Phillips, of McGill, Nevada, formerly of Springville, Utah, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was 82 years old.
Survived By: His wife, Sheila; three children: Trudy Phillips, Provo, Utah; Nichole (Lance) Moore, McGill, Nevada; Burke (JeriLynn) Phillips, Eagle Mountain, Utah; and eight grandchildren.
