Teddy "Gene" Anderson

Teddy "Gene" Anderson, 94, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in Evansville. He was born October 10, 1927, in Monroe County, to Charles and Clara Williams Anderson. He married Phyllis Jackson on April 15, 1950, and she survives.

Gene graduated from Bedford High School and attended First Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, U. S. Navy veteran, member of American Legion Gillen Post #33 and prior member of the Elks Club. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and had also worked in Weights and Measures for the State of Indiana.

Surviving Gene are his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Rita (Jim) Mullen-Spence; grandchildren, Shawn Whalin, Dustin Whalin, Andrea Mullen and Michael Mullen; three great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Ritchison.

Preceding Gene in death are his parents; daughter, Judy Whalin; grandson, Jacob Whalin; brothers, Frank and Paul Anderson; and sister, Anna Blackwell.

Funeral services for Gene will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Military rites will be accorded graveside by members of American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from noon on Thursday until the time of the service, also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
