The following obituary was printed in The News and Observer, Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, February 19, 1959, page 23.

DWAIN R. BARBEE
STANFIELD - Dwain Ray Barbee,13, of Rt. 1, died Wednesday morning in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. from Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Oscar Broome and Elder Atlas Broadway. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Atlas A. Barbee; two brothers, Wilson and Aaron of Stanfield; one sister, Mrs. Juanita Thompson of Marshville.
