Robert Bortner, 86, Is Claimed By Death
York New Salem – Robert Bortner, formerly of near here, died yesterday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Acres, where he had been a guest the past two years. The husband of the late Mrs. Cora Strausbaugh Bortner, he was 86.
Mr. Bortner, a retired employee of the State Highway Department, had resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Bortner, York RD 6, near here, for 14 years. His wife died in 1953.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Zion (Shaffer's) Union Church, near Hanover Junction.
Surviving are a son, Paul E. Bortner, York RD 6; a step granddaughter, four step great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. William Mosebrook, Shrewsbury.
Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, Mr. Bortner's pastor, will officiate at funeral services Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Interment will be in Zion (Shaffer's) Church Cemetery.
