Mary Kay Hansel, 71, Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Volga, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 03, 2007, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab, Altoona, Iowa, following a brief illness. She was born September 4, 1936, rural Volga, to Edward and Eva (Morse) Berse. Mary Kay graduated from Volga High School.
She was united in marriage to Robert Andrew Hansel in 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Volga. Two sons were born to this union. Mary Kay was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. She enjoyed collecting antiques and animals. Mary Kay was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Volga, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her sons, David (Donna) Hansel, Swan, and Todd Hansel, Seagoville, TX; one sister, Dorothy (David) Powell, Waterloo, brother-in-law, George Miller, Cedar Rapids; nephew Jack (Sheila)Miller, great-nieces, and friends.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1975; one brother Edward Berse and one sister Marjorie Miller.
