SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - Joe R. DeLeon of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the age of 76.
Joe was born in Gonzales, Texas. He married Rose Sanchez-DeLeon and had the honor of being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle to many who love him dearly. Joe served in the Texas Army National Guard and was passionate when it came to his family and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Micaela R. DeLeon, his father, Eusebio DeLeon Sr., and his brother, Eusebio DeLeon, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Rose DeLeon, his four children and their spouses: Joseph and Monica DeLeon, Janna and Rafael Perez-Cantu, Jonathan and Joann DeLeon, Jeremy and Megan DeLeon, his sister: Flora DeLeon , his ten grandchildren and their spouses: Gianna and Logan Beard, Benjamin and Emily DeLeon, Mikayla and Cameron Smith, Nicole DeLeon, Jacob DeLeon, Luke DeLeon, Izabella Perez-DeLeon and Jonathan DeLeon, Noah DeLeon, Grace DeLeon as well as four greatgrandchildren: Daniel Beard, Samuel Beard, Fox Smith, Rafael Beard, and Javier Michael DeLeon, with one more greatgrandchild soon to be born in 2022.
Pallbearers will be Edgar Camacho, Daniel Sanchez, Bryden McClure, Delfino Sanchez, John Rivera and Eric Guerra. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Gonzales Jr. and Gabe Gomez.
Visitation will take place at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos on Tuesday, January 18 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Marcos on Wednesday, January 19 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Community Cemetery in Luling.
