He was born June 21, 1931 to William H. Mann, Sr. (1907-1959) and Mable Grace (Brown) Mann (1912-1986) in Birmingham, Alabama.
Bill graduated from Ramsey High School in Birmingham and then graduated from the University of Alabama with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. He moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he spent his career at NASA and then retired. After retirement, he enjoyed golf in the NASA golf league, with friends, and with his brother Ken Mann of Birmingham. He enjoyed his time with family and his grandchildren.
Bill married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Smith Mann at St. Catherine of Siena in Pratt City, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (1933-2001); parents, William and Mable Mann; and son, Gregory "Greg" Alan Mann (1955-2018).
He leaves behind to cherish many fond memories, his brother , daughter, three sons, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery for extended family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Huntsville, Alabama.
