It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joel Durán (Uncle Jelly) on Sunday, December 26, 2021 of natural causes.
Joel was a resident of Hernández, and formally of El Rancho.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin Pete and Lillian Durán, brothers, Pete and Amos Durán, special nephews, Jacob Jake Durán and Jacob Jr., Andrew and Alex Christopher Sisneros. Joel was also preceded in death by his grandparents, whom he loved dearly.
Joel was one of the kindest and loving person that would do anything for anyone. Joel made friends and had friends everywhere he went. Anyone who was fortunate to have been part of his life knew how much he loved his dog, Samantha, they would go cursing on Roxy all the time and feeding and birthing the animals. Joel also loved his goats, chickens, rabbits and his famous cow. Joel loved making a garden and sharing his produce with everyone, Joel loved and looked forward to spending time with his special buddy, Isaiah (Zaya Boy), those were the best day ever for him.
Joel loved to fish, hunt and go rock hunting when he was able. His love for the Lord was so sincere and his faith was extraordinary.
Joel is survived by his partner in crime his fur baby, Samantha. Joel is also survived by his best friend, love and partner in crime of 21 years, Audrey Chata Sisneros, his special nephews, Isaiah Durán and Elijah Romero whom he loved dearly, special niece, Teresa Jacobs (Jeff), step-daughters, Moraya Gutiérrez (Jeremy) and Tovan Martínez, four grandchildren, many other nieces and nephews, special in-laws as he called them. A public visitation will begin on Thursday January 20, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Española with a Devotional to follow. The funeral will be held on Friday. January 21, 2022 at Victory Faith Church with the burial to follow at the El Rancho Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Austin Martínez, Louie Moya, Elmer Sánchez, Hugo Muñoz, Jeff Jacobs, Anthony García, Alex Sisneros Jr. and Juanito Ortega. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Alex Sisneros, Juanita Sisneros, Alex Sisneros III, KristalMuñoz, Andres Muñoa, Mario Muñoz, Isaiah Duran,Elijah Romero, Hailey Cordóva, Brenda Moya, Davelynn Moya, Jackson Jacobs, Saylor Jacobs, Eleanor EllieMay Jacobs, Hope Herrera and Johnny Devargas.
