Marcus John was the youngest of three children of Charles and Elizabeth McCall McLaughlin. Charles and their younger half-brothers Edward and Thomas all served, but only Marcus John did not return home. He is commemorated to this day in Charles and Thomas' descendants, three of whom are named Marcus John.
