After graduating from Sylmar High School, she worked as a CNA at General Hospital before moving to Ogden, Utah where she settled at St Benedicts Manor over 35 years ago.
Jackie worked several jobs in the Ogden area including Your Valet Cleaners, Deseret Industries and Headstart. She volunteered at elementary schools and the library as part of the Foster Grandparents program. She made many friends at The Manor and had a special group of friends that became a second family to her. Of course, Jackie was the ringleader and was known by the group as "Mother Godding." It was a Sunday ritual to have dinner together, study the scriptures, and end the day with prayer.
Jackie enjoyed doing genealogy work to uncover the history of her family, and she loved sharing this information with her sister. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a testimony of the gospel and loved going to the temple when she was able. She was kind, funny, fiercely independent, stubborn, and very loyal to everyone in her life. She suffered a lifetime of physical problems, but she never let them deter her from living a full life. A bag of M&M peanuts would make her smile, especially if she could have them with a Diet Coke!
Jackie is survived by her twin sister, two nephews, and was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Roy Godding and brother-in-law Hal Garner.
She was loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be missed so much.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
