OKLAHOMA- Wayne Ray Sanders, 71, died July 20, 2004 at Brownwood, Texas at his daughter's home.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, Oklahoma. Rev. David Sanders officiated. Burial was in Hewitt Cemetery.

He was born May 2, 1933 to the late Dee Williams and Katie Ophelia (Roberts) Sanders in Cheek, Oklahoma. He is formerly of Wilson, Oklahoma now of Cisco, Texas. He was raised in Wilson. He attended school at South Ward. On Oct. 13, 1953 he entered into the U.S. Army serving his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on Oct. 12, 1955. After his Military service he worked for Bell Helicopter in the Ft. Worth area then became a Butcher for the next 40 years employed by Thrift Mart, Safeway and was still working for Town & Country Grocery when he became ill. He was an independent contractor for Randolph Dodge. He served as a Missionary since 1975 in South America, starting first with the earthquake in Quatamalo in 1975 and continued to return as a missionary until his health prevented.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dee Sanders on March 16, 1947; his mother, Ophelia Sanders on September 25, 2000; two brothers, Billy on October 9, 1940 and Royce Sanders on September 8, 2000.

Survivors are two daughters, Vickie and husband Ron Baldwin of Bangs and Thilena and husband Rusty Neville of Ranger; one son, Jay D. Sanders of Savoy, TX; two sisters, Louise Young of Wilson and Wanda Tilley of Sapulpa, OK; 5 brothers, Merle Sanders of Weatherford, Bobby Sanders of Ft. Worth, Clinton and Hughes Sanders both of Ardmore, Charles Sanders of Healdton; five grandchildren, Chastity, Shaun, Jessica, Nick and Mikey.

Pallbearers were John, Gary, Robbie, Tim and Royce Sanders.
