John Annis inquest set this week An inquest in the death John W. Annis, 51, Royalton will be held this week in the Jefferson County Courthouse.

According to John Richardson, Jefferson County coroner Mr. Annis died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt Vernon, after surgery was performed to reIieve massive brain damage.

Mr. Annis was allegedly injured during an argument a a Royalton tavern and was first taken to Benton Hospital. He was transferred to the trauma center at Mt. Vernon after it was decided he could not survive a helicopter flight to a St. Louis Hospital for surgery.

Richardson said that he had asked the aid of John Finley, Royalton police chief, and of Franklin County Sheriff Barney Browning to investigate the causes of the fatal injuries to Annis.

Funeral services for the victim will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Moeller Funeral Home, Royalton , with burial in Miners' Cemetery, Royalton.

Mr. Annis was employed as a painter for Baldwin Power Plant, a member of the Painter's Union and veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine, Royalton; a son, Roger Lowrev. Rovalton: a sister. Mabel Oakley, Herrin; and two grandchildren.
