Robert Ernest "Bobby" Bottenfield, 81, husband of Betty Jean (Desper) Bottenfield of Staunton, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Bottenfield was born in Churchville, Virginia on April 8, 1940, a son of the late Ernest Sheridan and Geneva Edna (Altizer) Bottenfield.

Bobby was self-employed as a farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed farming and working with draft horses and took pride in his farm. He was a "Jack of all trades and master of many." Bobby was an amazing husband, father, neighbor, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bottenfield was preceded in death by two sisters, Zelma Naomi Lucas and Elda Edna Rankin.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, is a daughter, Karen J. Hildebrand and her husband Derek; two grandchildren, Trey H. Lawson and Kayla J. Yeago; a great-granddaughter, Aubree G. Liddle; a brother, Eddie Bottenfield and his wife Jackie; a sister, Judy Bryant and her husband Wayne; a nephew, Steven W. Bottenfield and his wife Danielle; and four nieces, Kimberly Berry, Rhonda Donald, Kellie L. Bottenfield and Megan R. Wolfe.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 140 Sugar Loaf Road, Staunton.

A Celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Boger.

Burial will follow the service at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Derek Hildebrand, Bobby Back, Floyd Cole, Stevie Bottenfield, Cody Rowe, and Steven "T.T." Bottenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Staunton -Augusta Regional SPCA, Post Office Box 2014, Staunton, Virginia 24402 or the American Heart Association, 3140 Chaparral Drive, Building G, Suite 106, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
