Joan Elaine Roberts, 73, of Upshur Lane, Burlington, WV, died Thursday, January 6, 2022 at her residence while under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Born on October 1, 1948 in Mount Storm, WV, she was a daughter of the late Fahrenheit Fillmore Cosner and Anna (Cosner) Cosner. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Hanlin, Vauda Hanlin and Geraldine Cosner and four brothers, Odell, Junior, Owen "Buck" and Eldwood Cosner.
Mrs. Roberts was a 1966 graduate of Bayard High School. She was a dedicated member of the Antioch United Methodist Church where she was very active in her earlier years teaching youth Sunday school. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Galen R. Roberts; her children, Galen "Robbie" Roberts and Elaine A. Judy and husband Rick, all of Burlington; five grandchildren, Tanya and Brett Roberts, Krista Mellott, Cody Judy and Kortni Spencer and seven great grandchildren, Marley, Elijah, Nolan, Bailee, Slade, Addy and Shilo. Also surviving is a brother, Lyle Cosner and wife Juanita of New Creek, WV; a sister, Yvonne Coleman of Mobile, Alabama anda close friend, Linda Thorne of Antioch, WV.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gwen Wolford officiating.
The use of face masks while attending all services is strongly encouraged.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch.
