Paul Javan Tilley, Jr., 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Mr. Tilley was born on May 26, 1943, in Rockingham County to the late Paul Javan Tilley, Sr., and Myrtle Mae Fulp Tilley.

Paul served his country honorably in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ruth Via Hopper; brother, Eddie Tilley; grandson, Devon Trey-Paul Swaim and granddaughter, Jacy Bleu Swaim.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Amy Tilley Morgan (Harold) of Kernersville, James Swaim of Kernersville and Jeanie Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Jimmy "Vann" Swaim, Destiny Law, Miranda Jo Morgan (Noah), and Levi Dwight Morgan; great-granddaughters, Addison Jade Swaim and Kenzleigh Bleu Swaim; siblings, Roger Steve Tilley (Marie) of Madison, Joann Tilley Martin (Jimmy) of Stoneville and Bobby G. Tilley (Susan) of Madison and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022, in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in the Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
