Charles E. "Sonney" Burton, 76 of Columbus, Indiana passed away October 26, 2021 at IU Methodist in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born April 14, 1945 in Columbus, Indiana. He was the son of Beatley and Oise (Burton) Burton.
He is survived by his daughters, Denise Owens of Edinburgh, Indiana, Lisa Burton of Columbus, Indiana, and Ronda Cox of Columbus, Indiana, sons, Allen "Boney" Burton (Lacey) of Edinburgh, Indiana and Marlin Cowan of Columbus, Indiana, 19 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Trish Burton and Karen Burton, brothers, Buster Burton and Buford Burton, Sr, and sisters, Carolyn Burton, Faylene Waltz, Leda Merchant, and Sue Bush.
Sonney was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion all in Columbus, Indiana. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing BINGO, karaoke, fishing, and horse races.
A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
