Kelly Renee French, 62, of Laurel, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Memorial services by the family will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel.

Kelly Renee Burns was born on December 1, 1959 in Marshalltown to Ronald and Sharon Louks Burns. She attended SEMCO as well as Marshalltown Community College, where she received an associate's degree in business. Kelly was united in marriage to Matt French when she was sixteen and to this union, two children were born: Corey and Amber. Kelly and Matt later divorced. Kelly then was in a relationship for eighteen years with Joseph Vallejo and they had a daughter: Chasity. Kelly had worked at Maytag for seven years as well as drove a semi for Davis Farms for the last nine years. She also worked out in the corn fields, detasseling.

Kelly enjoyed riding Harley's, camping, boating, young living oils, grilling and smoking, and baking. She also loved visiting South Padre Island and going to the ocean. Above all else, Kelly loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and was honored to watch them play on the same softball field as she did when she was a child.

Kelly is survived by her children: Corey (Angela) French of Marshalltown, Amber (Trevor) Slack of Marshalltown and Chasity (Kyler Ealy) Vallejo of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Sabrina, Anthony, Chayton, Madison, Tyrel, Talyn, Jayda, Daylyn, Angeliyah, Bristol, Malia, Trycen and Maize. She is also survived by her great-grandson Edwin as well as one on the way and her siblings: Roni (Joyce) Burns of Bolivar, Missouri and Terry (Kathy) Burns of Laurel and her bird "Porsche" that she has had for thirty-one years.

Kelly is preceded in death by her parents; Ronald "Butch" Burns and Sharon Dillman; sister: Michelle Burns and grandparents: Geneva (Bob) Louks and Layton (Dora) Burns.
