The inscription on Rev Lind's headstone reads:

"Sacred to the Memory of the Rev. Matthew Lind
Who after having served God in the Gospel of his Son for nearly forty years and performed with exemplary tenderness and fidelity the duties resulting from his
relations in life fell asleep in Jesus on the 21st of April 1800 Aged 68 years and 8 months Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

In 1760, Matthew Lind, second son of Matthew Lind in Antrim, Ireland, matriculated at the University of Glasgow, Scotland; in 1763, he was ordained a Minister of the Irish Reformed Presbyterian Church. From 1760 to 1773, Rev. Matthew Lind was minister of the Aghadowey Reformed Presbyterian Congregation. In 1773, he sailed to America, met with Revs. John Cuthbertson and Alexander Dobbin at Paxtang in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and constituted with them as the Reformed Presbyterian Presbytery of North America. Rev. Lind located to Paxtang and cared for that church along with the church in Stony Ridge, Cumberland County.

Rev. Lind was born not just in County Antrim but specifically at Corkermaine, near Cairncastle [History of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in America, W. Melancthon Glasgow, Baltimore, Maryland (1888)].

In Ulster, Ireland, the family name was spelled Lynd more often than Lind.
