Interment January 10, 2022

Lawrence Thomas Elliott, age 87, passed away on January 4, 2022. Larry was the only son of Ralph and Myrtle Elliott, born in Detroit Michigan on May 7, 1934. As a child, he battled rheumatic fever, spending long periods on bedrest and in wheelchairs. It was during those years he developed his lifelong love of reading. His teen years were active ones, hunting and fishing in northern Michigan. A proud American, he joined the Michigan National Guard in his late teens. More military service would follow when he volunteered for the Vietnam war joining the army, serving two hardship tours, one in the jungles of Vietnam and the other in the winter of Korea. He was a 30-year member of the Iron Workers Union Local 63, starting welding on the high beams of the Chicago skyscrapers, working in Steel Mills, then installing elevators, including the famous Sears Tower elevators. During slow work periods, he fixed up and flipped three houses, and earned a real estate license. He retired at 62, enjoying boating on the Chain of Lakes, and Lake Michigan, studying world history and politics, and enjoying his pets. Most important to him was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, his three children, and his 3 grandchildren; all of whom love and miss him.

He will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood Illinois on Monday January 10, 2022 at 9:30 am.
