James J. "Whitey" Davidson, 81, of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

He was born in Barnesville and was a son of the late Elmer "Jack" and Marie (Ward) Davidson.

He attended Mahanoy Twp. schools.

He worked most of his life as a factory machine operator but also had been employed by General Motors, New Jersey, owned and operated the former Sippie's Cafe, Mahanoy City, and last worked maintenance at Mahanoy Elderly Housing.

He was a life member of Mahanoy City Social and Athletic Club, Shenandoah Pumping Station and a former member of Washington Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Mahanoy City. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Boyle and Patsy Saladigo; a brother, Elmer.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances "Tina" (Holzenthaler) Davidson, two sons, James and his wife, Tara, and Michael and his wife, Angela, all of Shenandoah; a daughter, Nanette Macleary and her husband, Sean, of Mahanoy City; five grandchildren, Samantha, Jimmy and Mikayla Davidson and Nathan and Meghan Macleary; as well as nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at David D. Jarrett Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Funeral services will be privately held Saturday with the Rev. Fred T.
