MUSCATINE, Iowa — Oscar Ruiz Sr., 64, of Muscatine, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The Rev. Father Paul Appel will officiate.
Casketbearers will be Jesse Gomez Sr., Jessie Gomez Jr., Jose Gomez Sr., Jose Gomez Jr., Manuel Rojas and Ramon Olivarez.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
Mr. Ruiz was born June 6, 1943, in Cotulla, Texas, the son of Frank and Augustina (Casillas) Ruiz.
He married Margarita Rangel on April 7, 1963, in Plainview, Texas.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed cars, truck driving and being a grandfather.
He will be deeply missed by his wife; four sons, Oscar Ruiz Jr. of Iowa City, Abel Ruiz and his wife, Rita, and Daniel Ruiz and his wife, Loli, all of Muscatine, and Larry Ruiz and his wife, Michelle, of Plainview, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jose Ruiz of Muscatine and Alberto Ruiz and his wife, Lupe, of Alamo, Texas; and two sisters, Angelita Rojas and Maria Gomez and her husband, Jesse, all of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delmiro and Frank; and a granddaughter, Michelle Ruiz.
