The Stevenson Chronicle, Thursday, July 25, 1907. Died on Tuesday, July 23. Burial was on Wednesday, July 24.

Jordan was a Civil War Veteran. He served with the 4th Alabama Regiment Company G. Marion County Light Infantry organized in Dalton, Ga. May 2, 1861. The troops were not mustered in until reaching Lynchburg, Virginia May the 7th. Jordan was left behind to scout or spy, watching for union troops via train, marching roads or crossing bridges within Jackson County. Because of this, he does not appear in any musters beyond May 1861. He never deserted his assignment and was honorably discharged between 1863 and 1864.

Remarks from pension application Aug. 16, 1906: Detailed to serve with Bridge Gang. Did as important and necessary work as if he had been on firing line, was a faithful service to the company and did his work well; unable to make living and is unable to get about on account of Rheumatism.

Owning 40 acres value 100 dollars. No horses or mules but had two head of cattle value 35 dollars. Nothing of value other than his home furnishings and bunk value 10 dollars. Total value; 145 dollars.
