Perhaps you aren't ready yet to have to say good-bye…Perhaps you've thought of things you wish you'd said….well so have I. For one thing, I have told you not to worry about me…I'm with the Lord in Heaven now; you knew that's where I'd be.I'm sorry that you're feeling sad, for I am so happy now…I've asked the Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow. It's hard in the beginning, but I know you'll make it through. I hope it helps to know that I'll be waiting here for you.

Lena Ruth Ross, 80, of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday morning, December 30, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her daughters, granddaughters and grandson.

Lena was born November 9, 1941, at the family home in Foyil, Oklahoma, to George Lewis "Jack" Barnes and Leona (Shrum) Barnes. She grew up in the Bushyhead/Chelsea/Foyil area attending Bushyhead and later, Chelsea schools. After high school, Lena married Vernon Ross and the couple moved to Talala, Oklahoma. The Ross family moved to California in 1959, returning three years later to Oologah, Oklahoma where Lena was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Vernon and Lena made their home in Foyil, Big Cabin, and even Alabama, before settling in Big Cabin again in 1994.

Lena was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was famous for her bread rolls and she loved movies, reading and traveling.

Lena is survived by her two daughters, Millie Pinkston and her husband, Tim of Chelsea and Lisa Ross-West and her husband, Boyd of Claremore, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, LaMoyne Ross of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister Margie Wiley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Lorrie Pinkston, Jeff Pinkston, Brandy Kenyon, Jennifer Ross, Chris Ross, Nathan Ross, Sidney West, and Koby West; six great-grandchildren, Todd Atchley, Emily Atchley, Michelle Kenyon, Michael Kenyon, Gavin Ross, and Sapphire Ross; as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded by her parents; by her husband, Vernon on August 2, 2007; by three children, Kathy Lynn Ross, Gary Clay Ross, and Michael David Ross; by five brothers, Earl Lee, Ernie, Bob, Junior, and Gene Barnes and by two sisters, Mary Allene Barnes and Alberta Housewright.

Funeral service will be 2pm, Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel in Nowata, Oklahoma with Pastor Derek Melton, officiating; assisted by Lorrie Pinkston-Atchley. Interment will be in Talala Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, 9am-7pm with family greeting friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm.

Lena Ruth Ross, 80, of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday morning, December 30, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her daughters, granddaughters and grandson.
