Phil Lineberry, 61, of Glade Spring, Virginia, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. He was a native of Carroll County, Virginia, and has lived in Washington County, Virginia for the past 39 years. He was a son of the late Coy and Allura Coltrane Lineberry. He attended Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina, and received his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Mr. Lineberry had taught in the agricultural education department for the past thirty-nine years at Holston High School in Damascus, Virginia. He had been the assistant and later the head coach of the wrestling program for over twenty-five years. He was an F.F.A. advisor and served on various state committees. Mr. Lineberry assisted in the development of a new agricultural-science program, Aqua Culture, at Holston High School. He was an adjunct instructor at Virginia Highlands Community College and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Lineberry and Rex Lineberry. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Hendren Lineberry; one daughter, Debbie Lineberry, of Blacksburg, Virginia; two sons, Doug Lineberry and his wife, Angela, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Dale Lineberry, of Glade Spring, Virginia; four brothers, Kelly Lineberry and Jimmy Lineberry, both of Pierce, Idaho, Linden Lineberry, of Galax, Virginia, and Dallas Lineberry, of Fort Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in the Holston High School Auditorium. The committal service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Buddy Parks, Warren Wells, Matthew Anderson, Maurice Smeltzer, R.C. Sheets, Jason Booher, Robbie Lethcoe, and Junior Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be all the past and present faculty, staff, students, and friends of Holston High School.
