Joseph, the son of Phillip W. and Nancy S. (Keeney) Christy, was born in Fleming Co., Ky., died at Browning, Linn Co., MO. Entered land in Benton Twp., two miles southeast of Browning. Married Mary L. Lay 19 June 1864. Children, Albert L. , Mrs. Flora M. Taylor, P.B.; Ed; Mrs. Letha Bennett, George, Mrs. Dora Moon and Mrs. Lena Harvey. Civil War on Union side, Co.H 2nd Prov. under Capt. Hollon's command. Wife died 15 Dec 1881. Married Sarah L. Hunter 19 June 1887.
