She was born July 25, 1933, in Galesburg to Carl and Mildred (Boone) Christianson. She married Clarence a. Collins, November 3, 1951, in Galesburg.
Surviving is her husband of over 70 years, Clarence "Sam"; a son, Kevin (and Pamela) Collins of Galesburg, two daughters, Jeanine Beghtol of East Galesburg and Carlene (the late Ron) Hagan of Galesburg, three grandchildren, Tiffanny (Jeremy) Powell, Sara (Tyler) Nelson, and Shana Daniels and six great-grandchildren, Courtney, Sam, Kaylynn, Abbigail, Talia, and Arianna. She is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Gina Beghtol.
During her high school years, Joan loved working for Hearts Jewelry Store in Galesburg, she graduated in 1951. Joan loved being able to stay home and care for her children and husband. She enjoyed baking, especially rye bread with her daughter Jeanine. Later in life when the kids were grown, Joan worked as the "Sample Lady" at Giant Food Store.
She was a member of the TOPS Club Illinois 611. Joan was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. Joan loved being outside planting flowers and would wave to every one that passed by.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Ms. Bonnie King will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
