WILSON - Services for A.L. Morgan, Jr., 89, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Marietta, will be Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Chapel in Wilson. Interment will follow at Morgan Rest Cemetery in Simon. Rev. Mike Williams will officiate.

A .L. was a lifelong resident of the Simon community, being born there Jan. 16, 1918, to the late Alexander L. and Altha Irvin Morgan. He was a farmer and rancher. He married the former Ms. Sylvester Smith Jan. 14, 1939, at O'Savior, Okla. She preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 1987.

He was active in the community. He served on the ASCS (FSA) Board for many years. He was a member of the Hewitt Masonic Lodge 89 for many years. He loved the land and took pride in his herd of cattle. He loved to ride his horse and did so until a couple of years ago due to his health. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his wife, also preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Delbert in 1970, five sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Ernest Morgan and wife Carolyn of Marietta, and Alton Morgan and wife Lavona of Lone Grove; a sister, Grace Tucker of Marietta; a brother, Jack and wife Barbara of Ardmore; four grandchildren, Wesley Morgan, Diane Vaughn, Glenn Morgan and Greg Morgan; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a special companion, JoAnna Walker, of the Home; and numerous relatives, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Morriss, Wesley Morgan, Curtis Vaughn, David Staton, Chris Morgan and Bobby Hodges. Honorary bearers will be Curtiss Nipp, Finley Morgan, Terrell Tucker, Sonny Cullwell and Danny Gray.
