SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Julia Powers, 95, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating.
Mrs. Powers died Nov. 17, 1997, in Ardmore. She was born Aug. 18, 1902, at Sheridan, Ark., to Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Graves.
Reared in Arkansas, she lived in Sulphur from 1953 to 1977, moved to Springhill, La., and returned to this area in 1980. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She and Allen L. Powers were married in 1922 in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 1, 1978; and two sons, Bobby and Jimmy.
Survivors include a daughter, Juanita Haddix, Hope, Ark.; three sons, Charles, Tacoma, Wash., Leland, Hope, and Jerry Dale, Ardmore; two sisters, Virgie Dierdoff, Rogers, Ark., and Ruby Brock, Murphysboro, Ark.; 22 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Clagg Funeral Home will direct services.
