Mr. J. Elbert Wells Dies at Aiken when Returning from a Reunion.
Aiken, Aug 2. - Mr. J. Elbert Wells, prominent farmer of Montmorenci, died last night from paralysis. On Saturday, Mr. Wells, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. Means of Chester, S. C., returned from the reunion at Chester.
Arriving at Aiken they went to the hotel and then to the station to take the 4 p.m. train to Montmorenci. While waiting for the train, Mr. Wells disappeared and his daughter thinking he was detained by business entered the train alone. On Sunday morning, Mr. Wells was found paralyzed under the railroad bridge near the station and was at once taken to his home.
He was unable to speak and in spite of all that his physicians could do, he passed away.
His funeral was held today at the Aiken Baptist church.
He was about sixty years of age, a man of means and well thought of by all.
