Jimmie Lee Williams, 101, of Washington, Illinois, formerly of Okeene, Oklahoma, passed away at 4:40 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Cedarhurst in Washington.
She was born October 18, 1920 in Vernon, TX to Benjamin M. and Agnes B. Cox Wilkinson. She married Claude H. Williams on June 14, 1941 in Frederick, OK. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings.
Surviving are three children, eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mimi was loved dearly by all of her grandchildren.
Jimmie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. For many years she hosted a weekly Bible study in her home. She hosted many dinners and coffees and her door was always open for counseling. Jimmie was a lifelong member of the church of Christ.
The children of Jimmie and Doc had this to say.
We considered what final message our mother and father would want to leave to all of their family, friends, acquaintances and caregivers. As both of them were Bible teachers for many years and knowing them our entire lives, we agreed their parting message would be the following.
Seek the truth about God and His Son and do your best to know them. Search the scriptures for what God wills for you in your life. Then, go about living your life in service of others and in the service of God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
That is what we saw in our parents. They were not perfect but through their faith in Christ they were saved by the grace of God.
We thank God for our parents and for their shining example of service to others and service to their God and Savior to the end. We were blessed to have parents that treated us with love, patience, grace and forgiveness. We look forward to seeing them again.
We also want to thank all of you who were their friends and who loved and served our parents over the years. And we want to say special thanks to those caregivers and nurses who served our mom in such a kind and noble way in her final days. You hold a special place in our hearts.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Services were held December 21 in her home. Inurnment will be in Oklahoma at a later date.
