Martha L. Phillips, 86 of Pierson, IA; was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Martha was born March 30, 1935, in Pocahontas, Iowa; the daughter of Marten and Gretchen (Tapern) Seehusen and grew up in the Pocahontas area graduating from Pocahontas High School. She and Claude Phillips were united marriage and later they made their home in Pierson, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Claude, son, Albert (Barbara) Phillips, daughter, Vicky Phillips, son, Dar (Jackie) Phillips and son, Chuck (Cheryl) Phillips,6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Martha was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa where she was participated in the choir and other activities. She also served in the community as the chairman for the Woodbury County Women's Board and as an election judge. She was an avid card player, mainly playing bridge, where she became a very accomplished player, belonging to several card clubs and groups. Martha liked staining and refinishing furniture, and she also knitted and crocheted, making each of her grandchildren a beautiful baby blanket keepsake. She liked to cook and bake, and made the meal for the annual appreciation luncheon meal for the Pierson Farmers COOP Elevator for many years.
A private family funeral service will be held due to current pandemic conditions related to COVID-19 at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, IA. Private burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery, Pierson, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to be directed to Alzheimer's research.
