S. K. SHUMAKER
---Samuel Shumaker who lived northeast of here died suddenly Wednesday. In the forenoon he plowed in the field. In the afternoon a neighbor, Grover Belfield, asked him to go with him in his car to Kirksville. On the return trip Mr. Belfield said the first he noticed that anything was wrong, was that Mr. Shumaker who was sitting by his side was dead, without a struggle.
---An inquest was held and it was found that he died of apoplexy. Mr. Shumaker had complained only a few days ago and said that he feared he would die suddenly and felt strangely ill at times.
---He was sixty-two years old. He leaves a wife and four children, two sons and two daughters, Mr. Ed Buck, John and James Shumaker of Gifford and Ruth Dickerson of Hannibal; one brother, Noah Shumaker and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Ayers of La Plata.
---He was buried at the Shumaker cemetery Friday afternoon at 1:00.
---Mr. Shumaker was well known in this community and was a prominent Odd Fellow.
