McCormick SC - Samuel Marion "Bubber" Walker, 88 of Cedar Hill Rd., McCormick, SC entered into rest on December 12, 2021 at his residence. Funeral at Parksville Baptist Church. Interment in Overbrook Cemetery, McCormick. Mr. Walker, son of the late Allen Randolph and Rebecca Lillian Young Walker was born on April 8, 1933 in Greenwood and grew up in Troy SC. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1952 and then received a Degree in Business from the College of Commerce in Greenwood. During his teenage years, he also played baseball in the American Legion League. One of the highlights that he often recalled was playing against Bobby Richardson and the Sumter team in the State Championship which Greenwood lost by one run and he was left hanging on 2nd base in the final play. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the US Army for two years and served six years in the US Army National Guard. He retired as a shipping and receiving supervisor from Rocky River Mills after 37 years of service. Also, he was a member of Parksville Baptist Church. His interests included attending all sporting events that any of his family was involved in no matter how far away the games were held and was an avid Carolina Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves Fan. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Maybelle Dillashaw Walker; son, Frank Allen Walker and wife Lynn of Parksville, SC; Janice "Jan" Gable Hodges and husband James of McCormick; sisters, Mrs. Belle Drinkard Story of Washington GA, Mrs. Sallie Rice of McCormick, SC; grandchildren, Jeremy Dustin "Dusty" Gable and wife Lauryn and Frank A. Walker and wife Samantha; and great grandchildren, Josh and Olivia Walker; step-grandchildren, Britani Gable, Heather Hodges Pulley, Jeremy Hodges and step- great grandchildren, Devon, Hannah, Tori , Wyatt and Kylee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances Langley, Jackie Capps, Lin Walker, Ran Walker, and Jay Walker. Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
