Gertrude (Trudy) Brinkerhoff 101 of Coppell, Texas formerly of Massillon died Thursday December 25, 2014 at her home.
Memorial Service will be Saturday January 3, 2015 @ 11:30 a.m. at the Emanuel Old Stone Church, 6000 Congress Road, Wooster with Pastor Dan Bartkowiak officiating. Burial in West Salem Cemetery. Matteson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born August 6, 1913 in West Salem the daughter of Harold and Harriet (McKee) Gerhart. She studied violin at the College of Wooster Conservatory Music under Daniel Parmalee. She was a concert mistress for the Wooster Symphony Orchestra. She played in the Canton Symphony Orchestra. She was in McDowell Club music section.
She was president of the Massillon Women Club where she accompanied the choir on the piano. She was a member of the Massillon Chapter D.A.R., Garfield Chapter 324 Order of the Eastern Star in West Salem, First United Methodist Church in Massillon and Canton Garden Club . She was a Girl Scout Leader in charge of camping for the Great Trail Council. She was an avid golfer.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia Maurer of Arizona, Linda and Tom Ruegsegger of West Salem and Kathy and John Lanigan of Texas, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Her parents, husband Edwin Brinkerhoff died in 2003 whom she was married to for 69 years, a grandson Todd Ruegsegger, sister, Wanda Hall and brother, Frank Gerhart died previously.
