Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Metropolis. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
John was a skilled carpenter. He loved watching western movies, being around his grandkids and fishing. He would make fishing a competition with the kids, offering a coke to whoever caught the biggest one. They loved it, especially because they knew he would get them all one anyway.
John is survived by two daughters, a son and his wife, ten grandchildren, two sisters, a brother, an uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Joe and Juanita Tanner; daughter, Tosha Tanner; two sisters, Theresa Waddell and Bobbi Jo Wilkins.
