She was born on March 9, 1928 in Williamsport, MD to the late Harry Samuel Carter Sr. and Anna Isabelle Brinham Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Edward Teach in 2014.
She was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD where she was a majorette with the high school band and played various sports.
Tempe was employed as a Supervisor/Machine Operator with Alkahn Label Mill in Hagerstown, MD for 28 years until her retirement in 1991. She was previously employed by Wilcraft Hosiery Mill in Hagerstown, MD.
She was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport, MD.
Tempe enjoyed riding her bicycle and playing piano. She loved to walk in the mall and talk to everyone that worked there. She enjoyed all sports and was very athletic. Tempe had a great love of animals and was an outdoorsy and active person all her life.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Edward Teach and his wife Tina of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Jean Newcomer and her husband Ronnie of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 8 sisters; Mary Mason, Jane Mason, Ruth Carter, Lindell Bowman, Virginia Lee Doub, Elta Sowers, Lorraine Amos, and Josephine Creek; 5 brothers; Ira "Mel" Carter, Samuel Carter, Jr., Edward Carter, Phil Carter, and Alvey Carter.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 2pm with Rev. Robert V. Robinson officiating.
