"Born 10 November 1827 in Harrison County, Kentucky. 0n almost every document where her name is listed one can find it spelled differently, Lucvisa, Lavisa, Lavcey and so on. On her cemetery stone it is spelled as we have it. On 19 April I849 in Lawrence County, Illinois, LUVICEY married Henry Racop born 3 September 1826 in Germany, coming to the United States as a small child. Henry came to Lawrence County when a young man, bought twenty acres of land in Petty Township, cleared it and put it into cultivation. This was when he married 'Lavisa'. About 1868 Henry sold this land and moved the family to Claremont, Richland County, Illinois, to give his children the advantage of a better education. In Claremont he was engaged in a teamster business of hauling supplies for various stores in addition to his farming. Before 1880 the family had returned to Petty Township, Lawrence County, Illinois where Henry Racop bought twenty acres of land and made this their home until his death. This couple were parents of nine children of which only seven lived to adulthood.
Henry Racop died 27 Dec 1882 and is buried in Chauncey Cemetery, Chauncey, Lawrence County, Illinois. Luvicey 'Cumings' Racop died 15 October 1899 in Petty Township, Lawrence County, Illinois, she is buried next to her husband in Chauncey Cemetery."
