Russell "Russ" Charles Black passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday December 8, 2021 in Fishers, IN. He was born on November 25, 1942 in Bay City, MI to Hugh and Dolores (Walther) Black, who preceded him in death.

Russ was born and raised in Michigan and lived there until he was 42 years old when he left for a future job opportunity in Indianapolis working in the restaurant and food service equipment business. He spent his entire career working as a sales representative for restaurant equipment, helping restaurant businesses thrive.

An avid bridge player, Russ achieved Silver Life Master Bridge Player and loved to compete in tournaments. On a few occasions, Russ had the opportunity to travel on cruise ships teaching others how to play bridge. Russ was also a huge joke teller and loved telling jokes to anyone who would listen. These could range from appropriate for all to hear or could be adult only topics.

Russ was a Republican man who liked to debate about politics, government and enjoyed watching Fox News. A sports fan, Russ enjoyed watching his beloved Indianapolis Colts. He also loved spending time in Florida during the winter months and would spend time visiting the ocean, family and flea markets.

A Catholic man, Russ also had a huge belief in God. He was quiet about his faith but enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister and was a volunteer leader at Fatima Retreat House. He was an active member at St. Louis De Montfort after being a member at St. Simon and St. Matthews.

Russ is survived by his wife, Betty (Reha) Black, whom he married 45 years ago on June 18th, 1976 in Owosso, MI; three children; three sisters; two brother-in-laws; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held at St. Louis De Montfort, 11441 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038 on December 17, 2021 from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM. Services will be held immediately following at 10:30 AM with an onsite lunch to follow. Interment will take place later at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9140 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
