December 16, 1945 ~ December 8, 2021 (age 75)
Darlene C. Simmons, 75, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her side. She was the wife of the late John T. Simmons, who lost his battle to cancer and passed away in August of 2020.
Born in Downingtown on December 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Bernice (Matthews) Chandler. Darlene graduated from Downingtown High School, married her sweetheart John and raised her family, which she adored. Darlene enjoyed working with people and spent 26 years working for Clemens Market and GIANT Food Store in Frazer. She had recently retired.
Darlene devoted her entire life to being a wife and a mother. She attended every sporting event from the time her children were little and continued the tradition with all of her grandchildren's events. Darlene enjoyed the beach, especially her yearly vacations at Ocean City, Maryland with her family. You always knew what season it was, because the house was decorated and the family was gathered for the holidays.
Darlene is survived by her three sons, Kevin Simmons, husband of Christine, of W. Caln Twp., Thomas Simmons, husband of Tara, of Downingtown, and Brian Simmons, husband of Elysia, of Caln Twp.; grandchildren T.J., Nora, Lexi, Cole, Cassidy and Lainey. She was preceded in death by her only sister, Beverly Woodward.
At this time, services will be private for family. Darlene and John will forever be together at their final resting place at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown PA.
