He was a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Amherst College and was graduated from Northwestern University and of the Union Theological Seminary in New York. He has been a pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Advent of Brownsville from 1950 to 1960 and helped establish the Church of the Ascension in Matamoros and St. Paul's Church in Brownsville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Paul Abbott of South Padre Island; a son, Dwight Anthony Abbott of Brownsville; two daughters, Miss Emily Ruth Abbott of Chicago, and Mrs. Kathryn Grace Ayers of Long Valley, New Jersey; and a brother, Warren D. Abbott.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Church of the Advent, Episcopal with interment at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Friends of the family are making memorial donations to the Medical Scholarship fund, care of the Church of the Advent, Episcopal.
