She was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Bath County, Ky., to Boyd and Mamie (Hawkins) Goldie.
On March 2, 1931, in Bath County, she married Ray Cassity. He preceded her in death in 1965.
She is survived by five sons, James Cassity of Mishawaka, Floyd (Peggy), Edward (Barb) and Everett Cassity, all of Elkhart, and Ray (Charlene) Cassity of Union;
four daughters, Mary Hazel Clem and Elizabeth Roe, both of Paris, Ky., Ida Crisler of Elkhart and Phyllis (Randy) Albright of Goshen;
44 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren;
two brothers, Russell (Eva) Harper of Carlisle, Ky., and Kenneth (Vivian) Harper of Winchester, Ky.;
and two sisters, Marjorie Purvis of Sharpsburg, Ky., and Gladys Barbee of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Chester and Billy Cassity; and three brothers, Floyd and James Harper, and John Harper Jr.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday funeral service at Elkhart Church of God. Pastor B.J. Bishop of the church will officiate
and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Cassity had been a homemaker her entire life and enjoyed caring for her family.
Her other love was the Elkhart Church of God, of which she had been an active member for more than 40 years.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening and collecting bells. She also enjoyed children, as she did home child care in her younger years.
