Albert Arnott Ward, a reverend, died Sept. 16, 2006. He was 86. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Sandra Davidson; two sisters, Patricia Gilbert of Beaumont, and Sally Purcell of Spring; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at First Presbyterian Church. Corpus Christi Funeral Home

Rev. Ward died Saturday, September 16, 2006. Reverend Albert Arnott Ward was born in Plymouth, Indiana on November 10, 1919 to Albert and Ila Post Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jane Barnes, his brother, Copeland Ward. Arnott moved to Rusk, Texas in 1929 with his family. He graduated from Rusk High School then attended Austin College in Sherman and graduated in 1942. He then attended University of Texas Austin Theological Seminary and graduated with a Bachelor and Master Degrees in June 1945. Arnott served Westminister and Second Presbyterian Churches in Beamount, Texas. He then served First Presbyterian in Rockport, Texas (1954-1959). In 1959 he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to serve as an associate pastor at First Presbyterian in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1963, under the guidance of Presbytery, he organized Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church in Northwest Corpus Christi. During the 18 years, he served Jackson Woods he also served the Presbyterian Church in Robstown, Texas, for 13 years. After semi-retirement in 1981 Arnott served several Churches-First Presbyterian, in Alice for a time and then returned to first Presbyterian in Corpus Christi, Texas to serve as associate for the Rev. Jack Bennett. He retired. in 1997 with the exception of funeral and weddings. Arnott was very active in the community through out the forty plus years; he ministered in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was on the Boy Scout Board (probably was one of the oldest Order of the Arrow), Child Welfare Board, Red Cross Board, Downtown Rotary Club, Library Board, and unofficial "Mayor" of Annaville (when he lived there). Arnott was a people person and never met a stranger and he loved everyone. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jackson Ward, his daughter, Sandra Davidson (Bill), two grandchildren, Robert Davidson of Austin, Texas, and Katie Davidson of Corpus Christi, Texas, his sister, Patricia Gilbert (Pat) of Beaumont, Texas, is sister-in-law, Sally Purcell of Spring, Texas, his brothers-in-law, Ted M. Jackson (Maria) of Baltimore, Maryland, Robert W. Jackson (Theta) of Conroe, Texas, Dr. Henry W. Jackson (Jean) of La Verne, California, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, at 430 S. Carancahua in Corpus Christi, Texas. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary Lois Fields Learning Center (Jackson Woods Church) or First Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. The family is very grateful with Dr. Cecil Bourne and Karen Bowen for the wonderful care they provided for him all these years.
